Sometimes weeks go by without getting off the farm any farther than grocery stores and egg deliveries and that's okay but I get to missing some joyful community interaction. We recently had the opportunity to gather with other farmers and supporters of organic, sustainable agriculture for joyful interaction and a delicious brunch. Barr Mansion is a certified organic events facility in Austin that consists of beautiful, old and well-maintained buildings on lovely grounds with gardens and walkways and eclectic decorations. Check it out online at www.barrmansion.com
Melanie and Valerie from Barr have both been supporters of organic production and small farmers and late last year they extended their support to TOFGA (Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Assoc.). They were instrumental in nominating Sue to run for President and getting out the vote for her, among many other people across the state. Aware of the organization's financial needs, they next planned and implemented a delightful brunch fundraiser featuring our eggs and produce from several local farms. It was a friendly gathering which included TOFGA board members, long time local organic farmers and agricultural folks, as well as new supporters interested in the effort as part of their growing awareness of healthy food and food production systems.
Here's a few photos from the day... and thanks to Jeremiah from Coyote Creek for letting me use his camera when I left mine at home.
